Zdravo ! I am Lula, the other french volunteer 🥖 I am in Slovenia for almost 3 months now, and I wanted to share with you my experience so far 🙂 

I graduated in June 2025, and I felt like it was the perfect opportunity for me to start a new adventure. As far as I recall, I always wanted to live abroad. But I also deeply wanted to do some volunteering in a field completely different from my line of business (real estate 🏡). Moreover, I did a roadtrip across Europe in 2024 and Slovenia and its breathtaking landscapes really made an impression on me at the time 🏔️

All of this mixed together brought me in September 2025, on the European Solidarity Corpse website, looking for a volunteering opportunity. I didn’t plan specifically to come in Slovenia but the post from FAMILIJA really caught my eye : I really wanted to do something related to social work, with kids, youngsters and young adults.

Flash forward, 3 months later, I am very happy I took that decision !

As Solenne said, our time here is divided between a bunch of organizations. They are all very different in my opinion and that’s nice to me. We spend quality time with the participants, we can also help for their homework, cook, go outside… We already created – me and the other volunteers – very good connections with the kids/young adults and it’s very rewarding.

Besides the work in the different organizations, we also attend to slovene classes. It’s pretty useful ! If you like learning a new language, don’t hesitate eheh.

We also have time to do activities outside of volunteering of course. You can join a club, go hiking or whatever suits you the most 🙂 I, personally, love to go to other volunteers workshops across the country.
