Hello dear people!

My name is Otto and i am one of the 3(4?) Volunteers in familija Škofja Loka.
I’m from Amersfoort the Netherlands where I’ve lived my whole life.
After trying a few different studies like, journalism, pedagogy and sociology and never really finding my passion. I decided to go volunteering, first short term and now long term.

The Familija project spoke to me immediately. Working with youth always seemed appealing to me, because I once was and still am youth. I have also had my own struggles and knowing how much I appreciated the help I received, I want go give that same helping hand to others.

And not only the work spoke to me, also the surrounding area. Škofja Loka and the nature around it have been amazing so far. Going for hikes or just a short walk around the town has been a great way to wind down, gather my thoughts or come up with new workshops.

Because giving workshops is one of the main parts of my work in youth centre PUMO. Aside from that I support the other coaches and try to form connections with the participants. We play games, go for hikes, follow workshops, create things and much more.

And those things also align with the things I like to do in my free time. I like playing games both card and video games, watch and play football, reading, drawing and anything with nature or animals.
And well, ofcourse traveling otherwise i would not be here:)

I’m looking forward to the next 9 months I will spend here and all the people I will meet!
