During our volunteering with the European Solidarity Corps the national agency Movit organises 2 training to help us navigate in Slovenia. In April it was time for the mid-term training of our volunteer Myra. She will share her experiences with us:
I can’t believe it was already time for our mid-term training. It feels like the weeks have flown by so quickly. Movit invited us to come to Brežice to a small hostel. It was a very lovely place surrounded by nature. The moment we arrived on Tuesday, it felt like stepping into a little bubble. We kicked things off with some light-hearted get-to-know-you games. Many of us had already met during on-arrival training, so the atmosphere was filled with that comforting feeling of being among familiar faces.
Throughout the week, we took a step back to reflect on the journey so far. We asked ourselves big questions: Has this experience lived up to what we hoped for? What have we learned in this volunteering, about Slovenia, about others, and most of all, about ourselves? And how can we make the most of the time we have left here? It was a beautiful mix of honest conversations, personal growth, and moments of clarity. We also touched on the bittersweet topic of endings: how to say goodbye, how to close this chapter in a way that feels good. But among the serious reflections, there was also so much space for fun, for play, for being fully present. We organised a trip to the local river and some brave souls decided to hike a bit around. And of course, there was also time for plenty of good food and evenings filled with games and conversations.
This training was intense, yes, but in the best possible way. It gave me so much to think about, and even more to be grateful for. I left Brežice feeling recharged, inspired, and ready to finish this volunteering journey with a lot of joy. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this week happen: to the trainers, the organisers, and to each participant who brought their energy, stories, and open hearts. I’ll carry this week with me for a long time.
I would also like to show some pictures of this amazing week!
Myra
